Minor in Leadership Studies

The Leadership Minor provides a focused course of study and reflective practice in leadership that enables students to combine formal learning of leadership foundations and leadership skills. The minor enables students to develop knowledge, skills and experience in leadership that are transferable to a wide range of civic and career settings.

How to Complete the Minor

To declare the minor, you must start by taking LDST 101 and finish with LDST 495.

The Leadership Studies Minor requires a minimum of 24 credits. After taking LDST 101 or LDST 301 with a B or better, you may take a combination of foundation and applied credits to total 22 credits. The 2 credit LDST 495 capstone course is taken the Spring quarter before your graduation date to total 24 credits. Courses are open to all students you are not required to be a declared minor. 

How do I declare the Leadership Studies Minor?

  1. Contact Morse.Institute@wwu.edu to schedule an advising appointment.
  2. Complete a Plan of Study. A number of GURs count toward the minor.
  3. Fill out the minor declaration form. It’s important that you forward it to Dr. Stout, not the Registrar as the form says.
